House Insulation

If you tighten up your home, and you’ve got an efficient heating system, you need to check one more thing: (continues below)
Does your home have proper ventilation?
If you don’t let your home breathe properly, you’re setting yourself up for a high humidity condition inside your home this winter. That means heavy condensation on the windows and dampness or mold growing on your walls.
Not only is this unhealthy, it can cause structural damage in your home that can cost you thousands of dollars.
Before you panic, there are some simple things to consider.
I suggest installing exhaust fans in the bathroom and kitchen that vent outside. Bathrooms and kitchens are two of the biggest areas of your home where moisture sneaks into your house.
So by having those exhaust fans installed it’s a great way to get rid of excess moisture.
USE WITH CAUTION: Don’t leave the bathroom exhaust fans running too long. Some fans can exhaust an entire home worth of heat in only one hour.
As a last resort you can get your service guy to come in and install a heat recovery ventilation unit. It’ll increase the ventilation in your home, decrease the humidity, without wasting your hard earned money.
I know, it sounds ridiculous…
but when you solve one problem you can end up creating another.
Stay warm, stay safe and save money
