Inground Oil Tank

87. If you have an in-ground tank, there’s a way to check it for leaks
without ripping it out of the ground

2 ways to check your underground tank for any leaks with out the expense of digging the entire storage tank out of the ground.

1-a Manual tank gauging (MTG), also called static testing, is an effective, easy and inexpensive leak detection method for small volume underground storage tanks (UST).

A study by the EPA shows that MTG can detect leaks as small as .2 (gal/h) gallons per hour for tanks less than or equal to 550 gallons in capacity.

EPA defined Manual Tank Gauging as a weekly, short term, static test in which the liquid level is measured in a quiescent tank at the beginning and end of a 36 hour time period. (continues below)

Any change in the liquid level is used to calculate the change in volume, which is compared against established guidelines to determine whether any disagreement in measurements has sufficient significance to indicate a leak in the UST.

2-a Tracer Tight tests are the easiest, most accurate and inexpensive method for leak testing buried home heating oil tanks.

Even well-maintained tanks do not last forever. Especially in NJ, New Jersey, NY New York, NC North Carolina, PA Pennsylvania, ME Maine, RI Rhode Island & MA Massachusetts.

Buried tanks, especially those older than 10 years, need to be checked for leakage. Tank testing is fast becoming a standard, along with other home inspection requirements, prior to property transfers.

Even lenders, buyers and relocation specialists are beginning to require a tank test prior to any real estate transaction.

Listed with Environmental Protection Agency and many state regulators as an accepted test method for aboveground and underground storage tanks,

Tracer Tight is the best tank test available today.

This provides assurances that Tracer Tight is a proven, high-quality test method that meets all commercial and residential requirements.

The test is available from licensed Tracer Tight oil heat affiliates who are experienced in providing a variety of residential home heating oil services.  The above was taken from www.praxair .com go have a look
