24. What’s the most efficient home to buy and why?
If you’re buying or building a new home, look for an R2000 rated home.
Those homes have optimal insulation levels, good solid-type construction, including energy-efficient doors and windows, heat-recovery ventilation and, of course, an efficient heating system. (continues below)
With the R2000 standard, you won’t be disappointed.
It’s better to go with replacement windows as the 1st line of defense.
They’re expensive but if you only have a certain budget to spend that’s where I would focus my attention.
